(via Abel and Cain by Sean Mannion » Snakes in Trees: Mythology in Abel and Cain — Kickstarter)
Wrote an update last night all about the significance of this image and a little bit about how mythology informs Abel and Cain. Check it out. Give us money. If you already gave us money, give us more money. We have $481 to go. We need you. We need your money. You need to see this project when we’re done. It’s going to be pretty awesome.

Just went live with the Facebook page for my current short film project Abel and Cain. Go over and like it and check out some of the pre-production photos and videos (also to make me feel special and appreciated). I’m very excited about this project.
Abel and Cain is an experimental science fiction horror film inspired by the works of David Cronenberg and David Lynch (particularly the films Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, Videodrome, and Naked Lunch).
Brief Plot Synopis:
When struggling writer Abel is unable to produce a promised manuscript for the mysterious Nick, Nick provides him with a video intended to help him unlock his inspiration.
After watching the video Abel finds himself confronted by visions of himself as Abel, a failed writer, and Cain, a successful photographer, each struggling with the influence of a feminine counterpart. Rachael mothers and coddles Abel while Lilith dominates and consumes the creative efforts of Cain. In this struggle Abel tries to find the inspiration that will allow him to fulfill his obligation to Nick but it may not be Abel who emerges in the end.
More updates on this project coming soon.

Brainstorming & My Wife

I love that I can be sitting around trying to brainstorm while doing laundry, then Jess and I start texting and in less than 20 minutes, just from kicking ideas between us and being silly, I suddenly have exactly the kind of idea I’ve been looking for. Good times.

When I get home I’m going to spend the rest of the day watching David Lynch movies and writing down as many crazy ideas as I can. Then, figure out some kind of script thing. Then, make it crazier. Then?
